My life is like a rollercoaster. It has its high points, but it has its low points.
A Grateful Soul is a series of digital color photographs accompanied with a piece of notepad paper containing a list of what I am grateful for in life. Each landscape, portrait, and still life depict my personal sense of gratitude.
Every year, on Thanksgiving Day, I sit at a dining room table surrounded by loved ones and without a doubt, the essential dinner question is mentioned—What are you thankful for? I’ve always had the same answers as everyone else: Friends, Family, Food, etc. But deep down, I take the time to self reflect my gratefulness towards the world from the past and present. I list out the specific things that make me truly happy. My mom smiling when something is funny or the sound of the water hitting the grass. That is gratitude.
The word gratitude has a strong appeal towards an individual’s mental and emotional sense. It is powerful enough to influence one’s life even when they don’t realize it. Being grateful isn’t just about one appreciating the people around them. It's the fact that this world holds a great place of things and experiences spreading happiness to those who need it the most. This series is a positive attribute in my life, something to always reference at anytime.
