Visiting all the 50 states is the top item on my bucket list. My family and I would choose a new city to explore for summer vacation every year. Our itinerary sparks my desire to find new locations. I found a love for each city whether it was the atmosphere in Asheville, North Carolina or the Hawaiian restaurant in Orlando, Florida. Every place I go, every adventure I take, I look for a unique perspective that isn’t identified by the normal eye.
New York City is filled with businessmen and women running to their transportation that people see walking down the streets, yet I notice different, recognizable mascots passing out advertisements on street corners. Through my photographs, I can glorify those little details about a certain subject or environment that doesn’t get noticed at first glance. Things that often are overlooked. I want people to be open-minded about the world around them.
Our time is valuable in a certain place at different moments of our lives. Immersing into a space longer than the normal time can change an experience by a lot. Within that time, I search for the moment that need to be photographed. If I didn’t stay long at the made-made waterslide in Chattanooga, Tennessee, I wouldn’t have noticed a sweet moment between two siblings sliding down in inner tubes.
With photography, it brings out the purest emotions in people. The special connection between the mind and body is the essential part of an experience. My life has its highs and lows which photography allows me to document those moments to show my perspective. Whether it is feeling excited on my first visit to Israel or feeling confused by the jet ski sitting in the middle of the woods. Details in photographs form stories that establish all types of emotions.
My work looks at the reality of subjects to create the purest emotions from viewers. I strive to explore new places. I realize people only see the obvious characteristics but detach from the hidden details. Photography is an experience for the artist and the viewer, it’s a detailed story from a unique perspective. Only time will tell what you can see beyond the normal eye.
