The Outside Eye is a collection of panoramas and close up images of places connected to my childhood to create a new understanding of the environment’s qualities around us.
Growing up in these locations has shaped me into who I am today. It is where I create memories with my friends and family that I hold so dear. Although, I find myself wondering how to describe these places to others. Why are they so special? I’ve had conversations with my mom talking about the amount of time spent at Indian Hills Lake or the places we have gone in St. Louis. At times, she would tell me that I have an eye that she doesn’t. It made me question how our personal perspective differs from another.
This world is sometimes often overlooked or undervalued for its potential that this series allows for people to bring back their appreciation for its beauty. Since we all have different viewpoints, the panoramas manually combine multiple perspectives into a 360-degree view that the standard eye can’t see. Physically allowing the details in an environment to come alive at a magnified standpoint. While the close up photographs take apart that perspective to emphasize looking at different angles such as looking up or down. By glorifying the objects within the environment, we find a light in the true meaning of its charm.
As you take time to wander around this world, take a moment to breathe in and cherish what you see because value goes farther than you imagine.
